The concept of personas and perception is a crucial element to stand-up comedy, and now to my work as a speaker and coach. I’ve already talked about this a few times (‘License to Be Whoever You Want‘, ‘John Luther – Presence‘, ‘Weird Science‘), and it recurs in my posts in various forms because it’s absolutely fundamental to communication.
For example, the humorous comment written in an email could be perceived as rather unpleasant and sarcastic if read by someone who doesn’t know you.
