Simplification will improve your communication. Shorter presentations, meetings and emails are all greatly appreciated by your audience. Making quick progress and saving time are gratifying for everyone.
Simplification can benefit the rest of your life, too, by enabling you to operate more quickly and efficiently your day-to-day life. Here are some ways to simplify:
- Tidy your workspace.
- Focus on the task at hand (multi-tasking makes you do things half as well, or even worse).
- Let go of your anxieties. This is a big one, but highly beneficial, enabling you to make quicker decisions.
- Meditation can be a very effective way to de-clutter your brain and clarify a strategy.
Important fact: the word ‘priority’ was singular until the last century. In my opinion, that’s exactly how it should be: focus on the one thing that matters to you above all else and make everything work towards that. Having multiple priorities is counter-productive.
If in doubt, throw it out.
Simplify!
