Whether you’re prepping for a big presentation, leading high-stakes meetings, or just want to speak with more confidence day-to-day, my 1:1 coaching gives you tailored support to find your voice and own the room. We’ll focus on what you need most – whether that’s structure, storytelling, delivery, or handling nerves – with practical tools you can use straight away. It’s fast, focused, and designed to get results (and we’ll probably have some laughs along the way).

Whether you want to nail a high-stakes presentation, speak up in meetings without overthinking every word, or just stop dreading the phrase “Let’s go around the room”, we’ll tailor every minute to what you actually need.

The 3-session programme is ideal if you want real momentum and visible change.

What we cover:

  • Personalised coaching based on your goals (no cookie-cutter scripts)
  • Feedback that’s honest but kind – no sugar-coating, but no ego-bruising either
  • Practical tools you can use straight away
  • Real practice, real improvement, and the occasional “Wait, I’m actually good at this?” moment

We start with an initial conversation and identify your key objectives. Here’s a sample 3-session outline:

  • Identifying the characteristics of your speaking persona
  • The story of you and your company: what makes you tick
  • Identify the key elements of your introduction
  • Writing the first draft of any talk

Homework: write and rehearse an introduction outline

Session 2

  • Run-through of introduction
  • Making a ‘boring’ subject interesting
  • Speaking fluidly without rambling
  • Delivery techniques: first impression, body language, improvisation

Homework: edit/rework and rehearse the introduction

Session 3

  • Techniques for a positive and successful mindset
  • How to handle nerves
  • Self-acceptance
  • Speaking in various scenarios: conferences, networking, panels

I engaged Jon to help me bring my “bigger braver self” to public speaking. It was an enjoyable and productive experience. He created an emotionally safe and intellectually rewarding space to bring my vulnerable, confident and exploratory self to. Our iterative approach of discussion / reflection in the sessions, experimentation ‘in real life’ and further discussion / reflection worked really well for me. I certainly haven’t perfected the approaches we mapped out between us, but I feel resourced with what I can keep experimenting with, and a greater level of confidence that I will reach the outcomes I’m looking for.

Elisabeth Goodman – Coach, Author and Activist

Jon helped me with a speech for a specific event that I knew had to go well. In three sessions he helped me to make the content more engaging and gave me confidence to deliver it without a script and in a more conversational way. Having Jon coach me meant that I was better prepared and pushed myself out of my comfort zone. By the time the event came I was still nervous but I was confident that my speech was as good as it could be. Needless to say, it went really well thanks to Jon’s insight, pointers, reassurance and confidence building. I’d highly recommend his speaker training. Thanks Jon!

Hannah Bloom – Chief Executive at Suffolk Community Foundation

Jon is charismatic, funny, calm, patient and gave me essential tips to engage in public speaking. The lessons I learned in that short session are lessons I will carry on with me forever. Simple acts have tremendous power. My Develop Brighton 2023 talk on Sustainable Coding was a huge success. On the back of it I was invited to do a talk at UNWRAP 2023 in Kortrijk, Belgium. I was within the same country as the fabled Baldur’s Gate 3 developers, Larian Studios. In fact, I witnessed where Larian was reborn. The very same University that invited me to do a talk. When I look back and think, who unlocked in me the potential, it was Jon. If you are keen on public speaking or know anyone who might be, I strongly recommend Jon Torrens.

Geraldo Nascimento – Lead Programmer

I cannot express enough gratitude to Jon for his exceptional guidance and support in preparing me for my keynote speech last October. When I first spoke to Jon, I was overwhelmed and unsure if I could deliver my presentation effectively to a such large audience.

Jon took the time to understand my goals, strengths, and areas for improvement. He immediately provided insightful feedback, practical techniques, and a tailored approach that truly resonated with me. His patience, encouragement, and expert advice helped me build confidence and refine my speaking skills He also offered invaluable tips on managing stage fright and staying composed under pressure – which was one of my biggest fears. On the day of the event, I felt well-prepared and confident, and the positive response from the audience was a testament to the effectiveness of Jon’s coaching.

Thanks to Jon, I not only delivered a successful keynote speech but also gained skills that will benefit me in future speaking engagements. I feel cured! I highly recommend Jon to anyone wanting to improve their public speaking abilities or are doing it for the first time. Also, if you are reading this and want to do a talk but are too scared – just do it! Best thing I ever did, and I feel very proud of myself.
