Okay, I’ve no idea what it is; success is utterly subjective. Personally, I like to make my goals so achievable that I can legitimately feel ‘super successful’ every single day:
- Got dressed = successful.
- Switched the laptop on = successful.
- Made a perfect cup of tea = I’M SUPER SUCCESSFUL.
I learnt my craft through many years of stand-up comedy. The comics I worked with didn’t say “Break a leg” to each other before a gig, they’d say “Have fun.” Stand-up comedy taught me the best route to success: trying to enjoy yourself. Let’s be clear, this is no guaranteed method, but the way to give yourself the best chance. It’s a counter-intuitive, zen approach.
Perhaps the greatest success comes from abandoning the pursuit of success itself.
