Stories Breathe Life into Information

Worried your subject’s a bit of a yawn?

Then tell stories:

+ The first time you experienced this particular thing with a parent e.g. visiting a museum, cooking with them or listening to music together.
+ Describe how you put your talk together: “I thought: ‘Is this interesting?’ and decided to include some photos” or “At this point, I was struggling – there’s so much data!”
+ Make it relevant and immediate with the most recent practical example; this could be the same day or the day before. “Here’s a day-to-day example: when I arrived at work, first I had to…”

Your story is interesting.

Your expertise is interesting.

Your subject is interesting.
