Yes, Be Childish

I went to collect my son from his after-school sports club on Monday. As I approached the gate, I could see him and his friends; they appeared to be playing rounders. My son, apparently fielding, was spinning around, arms outstretched, and pretty oblivious to what was going on around him. Simultaneously, I had two mental reactions:

  1. My adult mind: “Pay attention! Join in.”
  2. My child mind: “That looks fun.”

The second point is vital; he looked very happy. As I journey through parenthood, I am learning more and more about how to deal with life. I thought I’d got it nailed when I was in my twenties. Then our children came along, to – metaphorically – rip up the rule book, put it back together with sellotape, and scrawl ‘treasure map’ on the front.

I think that for a great presentation, it’s essential to be creative.

Be creative. Be childish. Have fun.
